Claire Wilhelm: Ragtime

I chose to read this book because it was the only one on the list I recognized. I had heard of the musical but had never read the book.
I would recommend Ragtime to anyone looking for a good story. It is a little confusing at first due to the many different perspectives and randomness, but in the end, all of the characters come together and it all makes sense. It also deals with class struggle and discrimination.

Catherine Wilhelm-
I chose my book for almost the same reason, but not quite. I'm sure the author took that liberty of which so many authors have done by jumping from view to view. Sounds like a lot of good quotes could be found there.

I certainly agree that at first it was difficult to focus on the variety of characters and separate story lines going on at once, but once I got a better feel for the characters it was extremely interesting to see their lives intertwine and their stories come together.
