Welcome APUSH'ers
Hello AP US History Students of the Summer 2014e,
Many of you are aware that something happened to the blog and posting was disabled. I only just was able to correct the problems with Google this weekend. I have a How to to help those who haven't posted anything, or just need to submit your final comment. Please do so as soon as you can. Deadlines will be extended to Tuesday, August 19th at 10 pm for all the Summer Blog deadlines.
You can access the Help Sheet by Clicking Here.
You need to post comments three different times for your Summer Reading.
Every time you post, you must include your first and last name-- every time you post (get the idea that your name is important?). Without a name, grades cannot be assigned. Keep in mind that we do not know you by name other than from the legal roster, please put any given names not used in parenthesis).
It is IMPORTANT that you use the username and password included in your Summer Reading packet. (username: mcapush2 password: historyrules)

Garrett Crawford : The Presidents Calling- Lyndon B Johnson Addresses Congress
President Lyndon B Johnson addresses Congress after President Kennedy was assassinated. He says that the United States will still move forward. That Civil Rights Laws will be put in place and how humble he is to become President. I find him a a man of honor because he is strong and ready to get America back on track and to end racism.

Kaleb Johnson- The Presidents Calling- JFK persuades Barnett to Maintain Law and Order in Mississippi
JFK is persuading Ross Barnett (governor of Mississippi) to maintain order on the campus of Ole Miss in regards to the riots caused by James Meredith's acceptance in the University of Mississippi. Kennedy says that he wants the casualties and injuries to be reduced to a minimum, but isn't afraid to use force to end the riots. This shows me that Kennedy is a man who does not only what is right, but what is necessary to achieve his goals.
Angela Duan: The President Calling
President John F. Kennedy stands up for a black student named Meredith, who wishes to attend the University of Mississippi. He attempts to convince the governor of Mississippi, Barnett, to help him prevent a riot at the university and help get Meredith safely enrolled into the school. My opinion of President of Kennedy is that he is a very diligent man who cares a lot about his people and never gives up.
Logan White - Lyndon B Johnson addresses Congress
The podcast I listened to was about when Lyndon B Johnson addressed Congress following Kennedy's assassination. He speaks about how the US will continue to thrive and fight for the same values that Kennedy stood for. He says how even though his is sad for Kennedy he is humble that he is now taking the role of president. I think he is a good man because he acted brave even though that had just happened to Kennedy and he fought for good things like Civil Rights movements and the end of racisim.

Lyndon B. Johnson- The President Calling
The podcast I chose to listen to was Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson becoming the new president of the United States. President Johnson addressed issues within the country that were crucial to JFK's death. He talked about not being prepared to become president, and that he would never expect to become president. He also talked about progressing with JFK's plans to end any controversy with segregation. While still honoring his country, President Johnson also kept a promise that he would keep cooperating with any country that is allies with America. President Johnson was a loyal president that asked upon America for help to introduce him into presidency. In Essence, President Johnson made this speech to honor JFK, get into retrospect of the future of America, and lastly, to become introduced as a vice president to president.
Serena Ramos:
JFK is persuading Barnett to Maintain Law and Order in Mississippi. President Kennedy is concerned for the well being of the people of Mississippi and he wants to make sure that the police maintain law and order in a discrete and orderly manor so nobody gets harmed and not much if at all no damage is done to Mississippi. This shows that Kennedy cares for his people and wants to protect them and his country.
